Installation Instructions

Thank you for taking the time to participate in the AMBER Alert Net program. It is our hope that with your help and the help of other ordinary citizens, we can aid local law enforcement agencies in the search for missing and endangered children.

Please carefully read the instructions from beginning to end before installing the program.

1. Use the Download Now button at the top or bottom of this page to begin the download process. If nothing happens, please type this URL www.amberalertnet.com/download/amberalertnetsetup.exe manually in the address bar of your browser. Be sure to enter the web site address in lower case letters or the link will not work correctly.
2. When you connect to the site a message box will appear with the title 'File Download'. You will be given two options; 'Run this program' or 'Save this program to disk'. Choose 'Save this program to disk' and click on the OK button.
3. A second message box will appear with the title 'Save As'. At the top is a selection box marked 'Save in'. Use the gray down arrow at the end of this box to select 'Desktop'. Once you have done this click on the 'Save' button at the bottom of the message box.
4. A download box will appear, displaying the status of the download. It will disappear when the download is complete. If it does not, the box title will change to 'Download complete'. Select the 'Close' button at the bottom of the message box.
5. Find the amberalertnetsetup.exe file on your desktop (the name may be abbreviated by Windows). Verify that you are still connected to the Internet and then double click on the file with your left mouse button.
6. A message box will appear asking if you wish to install the program to your computer. Select the 'Yes' button at the bottom of the box.
7. A welcome screen will appear. Please read the message and the accompanying overview. Once you have finished, select the 'Next' button.
8. The next screen will ask you to what location you would like the program installed. The default location is C:\Program Files\Webroot\AMBER. To select this destination click on the 'Next'.
9. The program will complete installation. Click on the 'Next' button to register.
10. Registration is a necessary step in the process that informs Webroot of the information that you wish to receive through this service. Please fill out the information, verify that it is correct, then click on the 'Submit' button.
11. Once you have completed registering, you should receive a 'Registration Complete'. Click on the 'Close' button at the bottom of the message box. If you receive anything but the 'Registration Complete' message, please contact us at support@amberalertnet.com with a description of your problem.
12. The User Interface for the AMBER Alert Net will appear.

You have now successfully installed AMBER Alert Net and will receive alerts as they are issued by your local law enforcement agency.
